No giving up

With graduation day approaching quickly for our EPIC de Cesar Chavez High School, our students are excited and proud of their accomplishments. This is what Guadalupe Castro from Salinas Ca. said about his journey and the EPIC program.

"First I want to thank God and the FIELD EPIC program for giving me the opportunity to complete this chapter of my life. A chapter I should have completed 21 years ago. It was a long journey of struggles and effort, but in the end, I made it.

I'm 40 years old, I'm graduating high school and I'm getting a high school diploma. I'm proud of myself for not giving up this time as I did may years ago. It was difficult working in the fields and going to school right after work. My family would wait for me after school to have dinner together. It was especially difficult not having time for my children, between wor and school I was tired at the end of the day, but I knew I was doing this for a better future for me and my family.

I want to thank my teacher Ms. Maggie Rogers and my counselor Ms. Araceli Hernandez for always pushing me to do more.

My biggest motivation to keep pushing forward was the support of my wife and my children. I did this. Si se pudo".
